The fifth meeting of the Yarmouth and Caister Alliance in the series of seven saw a decent-sized field brave the cold on a bright and breezy day.

The ground was very solid underfoot which was reflected in some higher scoring than usual.

First place in the main Am/Am event went to Steve Greatrix and Tim Starbuck from the home club.

With an outstanding 40 points better ball score, they were five clear of 2nd-placed Andrew Rackham and Norman Angus from Dunston Hall.

Third place went to Norfolk’s leading senior amateur golfer, the legendary Terry Norman with his partner Peter Platten coming out of competitive retirement. They are both from the host club.

Fourth place went to the ever- present Shaun Brady and Les Greystone from Weston Park GC.

The professional’s prize was won by European Tour player and Suffolk raider Robin Mann from Southwold GC with a score of 77. With his partner Paul Boot he also won the Pro/Am prize.

The next Alliance meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 29. Entries are welcome from all clubs in East Anglia. Those wishing to take part should contact Gary on 01493 720421. Entry fee for non-members is £30 including, food, golf and prizes.
