A 12 year old Great Yarmouth schoolgirl has became the only person in the UK to qualify for both the World Junior Thaiboxing championships and the World Junior Kickboxing championships to be held in Spain in October.

At the Thaiboxing qualifiers, Lynn Grove High School pupil Jade Munro beat her Manchester opponent in the finals of the under 45 kilo (12-14 year olds) category by a wide points margin to win the British Belt and qualify for Spain.

In the Kickboxing qualifiers, Jade stormed through her semi final to win a place in the final of her weight category eventually winning the silver medal in the under 45 kilos group (12-14 year olds) and achieving qualification for the British team in both events.

Jade now holds the WKA British junior girls under 45 kilo Thai boxing title, WKMA eastern counties under 45 kilo schoolgirl Kickboxing title and the WKMA English under 45 kilo schoolgirl Kickboxing Title.

Dan Dawson, aged 15, also from the Three Lions Gym, won his semi final in the Thaiboxing championships then ran out of steam in the final of his category (under 60 kilos) when he was only given a 10 minute break between his semi final and final bouts. However, Dawson still achieved the silver medal and qualified for Spain.

In the Kickboxing championships, Cameron McGarrigle won his division on a bye as his opponent failed to make the weight in the finals, Cameron thereby qualifying to go to Spain. Conor Judge, aged 13, won third place bronze medal in the boys under 45 kilo category and also qualified to make the team to Spain.

Club coaches Dave Munro and Frank Crosswell were amazed how well their team did in such a huge event and the club is looking for sponsorship for the trip to the world championships to help with travel expenses etc.
