Great Yarmouth & District Football League

Ex-Catfield players John Hughes and Ricky Jonas scored, and there was one from Del Salmon, against Golfers Arms as Lacon Arms booked an Easter Monday date with Catfield in the Wiltshire Cup final.

Meanwhile Catfield took another three points towards retaining their title and the treble with a hard-earned 2-0 win against Great Yarmouth International with a strike from the goal machine Chad Pillar and one from Gary Todd.

MK United, however, remain top as they crushed relegated Caister A 10-1 with goals from AD Hogg (3), Coe (3), L Turner (2), Thompson and Loades. Unless Tramway win tomorrow against Golfers Arms they too will be relegated after losing 7-2 to Gunton. Ashley Leggett and Curtis Alexander both scored twice along with Gary Longthorne, Thomas Stafford and David Percival.

Ross Charlton and Gary Fitzgerald scored for Reedham with Thomas Jermy and Karl Clements replying for Arches as the sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

MK United Reserves head the second division after a 3-1 win against Paperclip thanks to goals from Adam Secker, Ryan Booth and an own goal. Shrublands remain second as they too secured a narrow 2-0 win against Prostar Windows with goals coming from Rob Manning and Jason Thompson.

Albion (GY) remain favourites to take the title if they can keep fatigue at bay as they sit six points off the lead with seven games in hand and still with 12 league games to play. Sam Welch grabbed four goals and Matthew Oldham and Johnny Bowles two each in a 8-1 win at Carpathians.

Hemsby Reserves' promotion chase has faltered recently as they were held to a 3-3 by Gorleston Wanderers - Rory Gook with two and Marc Evans one scored for the home side with Jason Rowe (2) and Chris Thompson replying for Wanderers. A hat-trick from Darren Howe and one each from Nathan Copping and Kurt Pillar just allowed South Yarmouth to edge out Norfolk and Chance 5-4 while Jamie Hollis (2), Richard Goreham and substitute Lewis Clarke helped Great Yarmouth Peelers to an equally narrow 4-3 win at home to Great Yarmouth United.

Tomorrow Arches entertain MK United in the first HA Holmes Cup for a place in the final on April 1, at the Wellesley.
