The East Norfolk Sixth Form College Netball girls took on Hills Road Sixth Form College from Cambridge in the East of England semi-finals of the British Colleges' Cup and came through 36-29 for a place in the final.

With a full, strong squad out, the girls started well, playing at their own pace and setting the standard for the next hour.

Annie Hunt and Molly Smith helped East Norfolk take the lead, only missing two goals in the first quarter to make the score 11-4.

The next quarter saw the girls having to work a lot harder, as Hills Road put up a fight, making some excellent interceptions. But the local girls continued to put in 100 per cent with some brilliant movement and play from Katherine Bullen and Ellice Thompson in attack. The lead continued with a 10-goal advantage at half time, 22-12.

A couple of changes made at half-time saw Faron Lilly take to the stage. The girls were being rushed slightly which saw a drop in the game, but they soon composed themselves and continued to make every fault by Hills Road count.

Hills Road pulled some excellent shooting out of the bag and threatened to pull it back, but the defending team of Shannen Gray, Jess Atkinson and Sarah Coleman were incredible to keep the lead at nine goals, going into the final quarter at 29-20.

In the last quarter it was clear how much the girls wanted to win, with pure determination getting them through to a 36-29 victory.

Danielle Philpott and Rachel Hodds made up the squad, providing valued back-up.

Sarah Coleman was awarded player-of-the-match and the team now look forward to meeting Palmers' College or Luton in the final
