GORLESTON Football Club have been forced into management changes in the countdown to the new season.

They announced this week that first team manager Glenn Haylett asked to step down from his post with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken after several weeks' consideration and is due mainly to work commitments and time restrictions.

The club thanked him for his hard work since he has been involved with Gorleston FC, and appreciated the big part he had played in getting the club back on the right road.

Haylett has been at the club for three years, two of those as youth team manager when he attracted many talented youngsters to the club.

And last season when he was first team manager Gorleston had their most successful season for some years, culminating in reaching the Ridgeons League Cup final.

Jon White, together with Martyn Sinclair - who steps up from the reserves - will take over the running of the first team, assisted by Mick Wright and John Mann.

They have been quick to appoint ex-player Steve Bishop to the post of reserve team manager, assisted by Alan Smith and Paul Williams.

Smith will take over as U18 manager and will be helped by Mark Fisk, with whom he has worked in the past.

Although the Greens are disappointed to have lost Haylett, they have welcomed the new members of the management teams and are very excited about the club's prospects for the upcoming season.

Due to the safety regulations limiting numbers, it is advisable to purchase tickets prior to the game with Norwich City to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are on sale at Planet Football, King Street, Great Yarmouth and Music Lovers, High Street, Gorleston.

They will also be on sale at Gorleston FC clubhouse, Emerald Park, Woodfarm Lane, Gorleston, on Sunday July 6 and July 13 between 10am and 2pm.

The club held their annual meeting last Friday and Jimmy Jones officially stood down as chairman.

Vice-chairwomen Ann Santon agreed to be acting chairwoman, but the club do badly need someone who has the time and contacts to keep up the good work done last season.

The club has promosed it will work tirelessly to help anyone who wishes to take up the challenge.

Anyone interested in being chairman should ring the secretary Kevin Meale on 077431 30740 for further details.

A presentation was made to Jimmy and Jane to thank them for everything they have done.
