The final match of the season took place at Ormesby as Belton and Catfield fought for the HA Holmes League Cup.

Belton, sporting a brand new kit, started the brighter and scored after just two minutes when Kristian Gowing got his head on to free kick and the ball nestled in at the near post.

Chad Pillar should have equalised for Catfield but he shot straight at Chilvers when clean through.

Belton almost doubled their lead but the ball beat the post.

It was 1-1 however when the normally reliable Chilvers misjudged a corner and gave Spencer Self the easiest of tap-ins. Both sides continued to press but went in at 1-1. The second half saw Catfield apply the pressure with Belton looking to hit on the counter.

Catfield though scored what turned out to be the winner when Tavares nipped the ball away from the centre back on the halfway line he played in Pillar. He returned the favour which saw Tavares score in the far corner.

Belton though were full of heart and more than played their part in the tie but the score finished 2-1 in Catfield’s favour and for the 6th straight season Catfield lifted the league cup.

Would all clubs please note that they should now have received forms for 2012-13 season and the league’s agm is wednesday 20th june. Forms must be returned before then.
