Sporting options for half-term

THANKS to Great Yarmouth Borough Council sports development service, next week's half-term gives children time and opportunity to try something new on the sporting menu.

THANKS to Great Yarmouth Borough Council sports development service, next week's half-term gives children time and opportunity to try something new on the sporting menu.

The service works with clubs and providers to highlight active pastimes for young people, and the objective is always to explore different and new activities. The programme for next week is:

Tuesday, February 16

Street jazz dance workshop at John Grants School, Caister, 10am-noon, cost £4 per child.

Badminton training at York Road Drill Hall, Great Yarmouth, 2-4pm, cost £4 per child..

Wednesday, February 17

Tennis day at Gorleston Tennis Club, Orde Avenue, Gorleston,

10am-3pm, cost £12 per child. Learn from the club's professional coaches and develop your game and skills.

Thursday, February 18

Skiing for beginners at Norfolk Ski Club, Trowse, noon-5pm, cost £17 per child. While the Winter Olympics is going on your appetite might be whetted and you may like to try and learn to ski. Costs include transport by minibus from the Great Yarmouth area.

Friday, February 19

Gymnastics and trampolining at Oriel High School, Gorleston, 10am-12.30pm for ages five to seven years, cost £6 per child and 10am-3pm for eight years and above, cost £12 per child.

All these activities are for children aged eight and above (except where stated).

Places are limited, and early booking is advised.
