Jack Garrod’s 33rd minute strike was enough to secure bragging rights for Gorleston in the east coast derby at the Wellesley on Monday.

The victory ensured the Greens, who took four points off their great rivals this season following a 1-1 draw back in December, finished in seventh place. It completed a good bank holiday weekend for Gorleston, who rescued a late point at home to Histon on Saturday thanks to George Yusuff’s late header.

Many will feel Gorleston’s seventh-placed finish represents a decent achievement for manager Stewart Larter who came back to the club in October after Ricci Butler departed. Great Yarmouth finished in 15th place after a long campaign, which has been something of a mixed bag for the Bloaters.

In the First Division Norwich United Reserves were thrashed 5-1 at home against Little Oakley. The Planters have one match still to play against Leiston Reserves and will be hoping to improve on their current 19th position.
