Great Yarmouth wimmers Atlanta Jarvis and Honey Harvey competed in their first Eastern Region British Age Group Championships at the UEA over recent weekends in the youngest qualifying age group, with promising results.

The event was to see both girls in the finals of all the races they were entered for, with personal best times in each. An impressive seven golds, three 6th places and one 7th place were achieved in this highly competitive gala.

The opening session of the first weekend saw Atlanta in the 200m individual medley, this proved to be a tough first race however her breaststroke and freestyle forms in the final allowed her to bring her first gold of the competition, in a strong finish.

The afternoon sessions of the first weekend saw both girls compete in the 100m and 200m freestyle events, Honey and Atlanta swimming qualifying times in the heats to guarantee their places for both finals. In what proved to be a most exciting final, both girls swam well with Honey achieving 6th place in 100m, and 7th in the 200m, and Atlanta adding two more gold medals.

The following weekend, in the morning sessions saw both girls in the 100m and 200m backstroke finals. Both girls, again, swam well despite their seedings, with Honey achieving two sixth places and Atlanta holding on to first places in both events leading from the start.

The afternoon sessions saw Atlanta dominate in her preferred events of 100m and 200m Breaststroke, coming through the heats as fist seed in both. In the 100m event she lead from start to finish with over seven seconds to spare.

The grueling 200m event is her favourite and by the way she swam it was easy to see why.

At the 100m mark she was in front by six seconds and stretched this lead to win by over 17 seconds.

The weekend concluded with Atlanta being awarded regional BAGCAT trophy cup for the 10 year old girl age group, winning by a healthy margin.

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club came 5th place overall in the medal table out of 39 clubs who achieved medal placings.
