IT will soon be time to get your eyes down for the first question again!

The Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth's second annual Grand Charity Quiz Competition will take place at the Town Hall, courtesy of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, on Friday evening, March 6.

Last year, after ten rounds of concentrated brainwork, in which first one, then another of the 28 competing teams claimed the lead, the Lynn Grove High School Staff team emerged as winners of the Family and Community Shield, with the HSBC Retail team carrying off the Business Shield award.

Tony Mallion has again agreed to be Quizmaster and the competition this year will be run on the same lines as last, with teams of four entering in one of the two categories, and the winners of each category receiving a shield, as well as individual prizes.

There will also be certificates for every participant, and again teams will have the opportunity to play a Joker to double their score should they be bristling with confidence that they know the correct answer to a question!

One of the highlights for all competitors last year was the buffet, with soft drinks, which will again be made delivered by club members to the table during the interval. A licensed bar, open from 6.30 pm, will also be available, offering a delivery service for purchased drinks as required.

Many of last year's entrants have already confirmed their interest in fielding a team or teams - there is no limit, other than space to accommodate them, and some have already formally entered.

The entry fee for each team is £80 and as last year when £3,500 was raised, every penny of income including the programme advertising will go to charity, thanks to main sponsors Perenco, and other local companies and organisations. The proceeds will be shared between the Palliative Care East Appeal at the James Paget University Hospital and Rotary Foundation, which helps provide funds for emergency aid and other charitable projects all over the world.

Further information, plus the necessary forms (early entry is advised) can be obtained from organiser David Trowbridge on 01493 751792, or through any member of the club.
