TOMORROW sees the Town Centre Music Festival (TCMF3) kick off for nine days of music and dance to celebrate the achievements and talent of the borough.

All-girl teenage band EFX, who have made it through to the next phase of ITV's X Factor, will launch the festival in the Market Place at 10.30am.

Organiser Chris Anson said: “The stage is set for the town's biggest free cultural community cohesion event. It will include over 100 acts covering all ages and styles. Owing to a few cancellations there are some vacant slots daytime midweek, anyone interested in taking up the gauntlet should contact me urgently.”

Chris added: “This year's event once again sees TCMF major funders ComeUnity taking the leading role in supporting the event as they have done in previous years. It is ComeUnity funding that has contributed to the success of TCMF as much as anything else. Funding has always been an issue and is always difficult to obtain.”

Yarmouth-based classic metal Fenrir will make another appearance in the town on Sunday when they take the stage as part of the evening's live music schedule. They are scheduled on at 8pm, following fellow hard'n'heavy rockers Untold from Lowestoft at 7pm. It will be something of a milestone for the band, not only have they never played an open air gig before, it is also the first time their set will be all original material.

There will be a number of performances of dancing from local schools and from the Dusmagrik Young Peoples Theatre.

Vocalists who appeared last year will making another appearance next week including Gaby Starbuck, Anne Kefford and Anna Ross. The bands, including Canine Feline, Aluminium Risk and the others will offer a variety of musical genres.

Chris said: “One of the great things for me about TCMF is seeing fabulous new bands emerge from our community and being in a position to promote them at the festival. All performers over 16 at TCMF3 will receive a complimentary pass to the Friends Tribute Festival being staged at the racecourse on Saturday, July 26 from 11am-11pm

The Friends Tribute Festival features six of the top UK tribute bands featuring the music of Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie, Paul Rodgers, The Who and The Cult. The event will run from 11am to 11pm with tickets priced at adults 20 under 18s 15 under fives free.
