A school in the Broads has won an award for sporting achievement.

Rollesby Primary School has scooped a School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The accolade is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Rollesby Primary is one of the only schools in the east to have achieved the award.

The school's achievements this year included opportunities for participation in sporting events such as sailing, athletics, football, cross country, basketball, cricket, iceskating, swimming, orienteering, tchoukball, canoeing and multiskills.

The school said it prides itself on its "highly inclusive approach which allows all children to participate and achieve in sport".

In order to be eligible for this award the school had to achieve a gold award for four consecutive years.

The school gave special thanks to Mrs Howlett who has spent countless hours of her time ensuring that all the children at Rollesby Primary School have the best possible sporting opportunities.
