A popular seaside venue in Gorleston is hosting a night of rock classics to raise awareness of a debilitating disease.

Rock The Rooms will be held at the Ocean Room on Friday, November 17, to raise funds for the Motorneurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Motorneurone disease is a fatal, rapidly progressing disorder that affects the brain and spinal cord, leaving many of its victims locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. There is no cure.

Mr Stewart said: "This past year has been a struggle.

"After the diagnosis dad was told that due to his age it is likely he only has a couple of years left. The family is reeling, but we're trying to do the best we can for him."

The MNDA has been "making life a little bit easier" for Mr McCulloch as he adapts to life with the disease.

"They've been a huge support," said Mr Stewart.

"And we've tried different ways of raising money for them, as well as raising awareness of the condition which despite being horrendous has seemed to have flown below the radar for years.
