Using an award from Broadland District Council’s community small grants fund together with a grant from Acle Parish Council and money from the group itself, 1st Acle Scouts purchased target archery equipment last year.

Practicing on the local primary school playing field, the young people learnt the rules of archery under instruction from leaders and the discipline and respect for safety associated with the sport. This practice paid off as 1st Acle Scouts were placed first in a recent archery competition against other scout groups in the East Norfolk District.

With the competitions highest scoring boy and girl from within the group, 1st Acle were well placed to go forward and represent East Norfolk District at the Norfolk County Scout Archery Competition on 14 June. This was held at the Stody Estate, Melton Constable and representing East Norfolk, 1st Acle ran out proud winners of the competition - with the added bonus in that two of their scouts were placed first and third highest individual scorers.
