I can remember before the Outer Harbour was built, the then Mercury angling correspondent Roy Webster advised all angling club secretaries to contact the powers that be, to find out if angling would be possible in the new harbour.
As it was then, and still is in the harbour at Dover, a much bigger and busier harbour and port than Great Yarmouth could ever hope to be. I don’t know if anything was ever done about this, but my point is, if they can allow angling right in the middle of Dover harbour, for example the Southern Breakwater, (see attached photo), why can’t we be allowed to drive around our harbour road?
Perhaps they are not governed by Europe, as we seem to be!
