A successful Darts Knockout Competition was held at Halvergate Playing Field Club on Saturday in memory of local darts player Barbara Hewitt. Once again it was well supported with 35 players taking part.

Neil Horn from Great Yarmouth, pictured right, won the Barbara Hewitt Memorial Cup donated by Carmichaels Trophies and Lewis Winter was runner-up. A buffet was enjoyed by all and thanks was expressed to all who donated the food. A raffle of over 150 prizes was held with all prizes being donated by local people and businesses.

The evening raised a massive £850 with Whitbread doubling £750. and a top-up from Tesco of £170. making the amount raised £1,770. All proceeds go to the Palliative Care East - Louise Hamilton Centre. A huge amount of £9,240. has now been raised since Barbara passed away in December 2009, all of which has gone to the Louise Hamilton Centre apart from £400 which went to the Priscilla Bacon Lodge. June Dunstan, who organised the event, would like to express her gratitude and thanks to all of her mum’s friends who continuously support the event making it such a great success.
