Reading in last week’s Mercury that Caesars Palace is being converted into flats, brought back happy memories because of the historic Goode’s Hotel involvement.
It was run by two brothers and as a six year old, I had dancing lessons on a Saturday afternoon for sixpence including a biscuit and lemonade.
During the Second World War dances were held three times a week ending at 10pm enabling dancers to get home in the blackout before the nightly air raids. Now at 94, I hope the front of Goodes Hotel will remain like the happy times I spent there in my youth.

Hopton
