Reader Melissa Wallis-Riches of Gorleston was quick off the mark to help identify people in the mystery picture, featured in last week’s Letters pages/
Melissa wrote: “The gentleman sitting down with the cap on in the centre of the photo is my grandad Edward Stuart Knell.”
The boat was similar to the Lydia Eva drifter and it is thought the photo was taken in the 1950s.
“Grandad was from Great Yarmouth and his twin brother lived in Woodbastwick. Edward Stuart Knell was married to my Nanny Kate and they had nine children, one of them my mum.
And Michael Knell of Admiralty Road, Yarmouth wrote in to tell us: “The gentleman sitting down in the middle at the back of the photo is a Yarmouth man called Stuart Knell. He is my father. Sadly he is no longer with us. I believe this photo was taken on Yarmouth docks in the 1950s.
