The public may have noticed that a great deal of work has been carried out by the Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust, Great Yarmouth Borough Services and the Friends of Great Yarmouth Cemeteries over the last couple of years.
Now that a lot of clearance of invading shrubs and bracken has taken place, many wildflowers and insects are returning. The mowing regime allows certain areas to flourish with wild life. One recent find is the bee fly (Villa Modesta) and it is thought this is the first sighting of this species in Norfolk.
If anyone wishes to support the work of the Friends of the Cemeteries, contact Penny on 01493 855817. The membership fee is £5 a year.
