I am writing in reply to Jennifer Elliott’s letter, July 28, concerning gulls. I agree with her that man is at fault.
When the herring fishing was here the gulls were out to sea but now there’s no fishing they seem to have moved inland. All they do is walk and mess on the benches that people sit on in the Market Place in Great Yarmouth.
A few months ago, I saw a young boy on two occasions feeding the pigeons, which then attracted the gulls. I believe the borough council should put up signs informing people not to feed the pigeons and gulls, with a warning of a fine if they do so.
