While reading the Mercury dated May 19 about the 1953 floods I noticed a picture of my dad driving a Ross carrier.
I also have a photograph of my dad shaking hands with Lady Churchill and the mayor in recognition of what he had actually done in the floods.
He worked for Jewsons from the 1940s to the 1960s as a long-distance lorry driver. My late dad’s name was Donny Smith.
