Having just completed the 64th annual Bowls Festival which was played in glorious weather and watched by large crowds, I would like to say a few thank you's in appreciation for their efforts.

First of all to the sponsors and advertisers who without their help we would not have the prestigious tournament we have.

Many thanks to the greenkeepers for producing top class greens which from all accounts bowled extremely well; to the players and spectators and Donna Bidwell and the staff at the Great Yarmouth Tourism Office for all their help; to my hardworking committee for all their voluntary work during the four weeks, many, many thanks.

During the tournament we raised 2,550 for Palliative Care East which came from raffles, target bowls and a collecting box so I may say a very big thank you to everyone who supported us and a special thanks to Arthur Savory, Lyn and Dexter Bowers, Dennis and Lesley Wright, John Gray, Doug Richards, Ken Adey, Betty and all the boys on the Great Yarmouth market stalls and everyone who donated prizes. Finally, may I wish Tommy French, Brian Warnes and umpire Micky Gill, who have decided to retire from the committee after over 80 years between them, may I wish them all the very best. Looking forward to 2010.

Sincere thanks to James Paget University Hospital. On January 24 this year, I fell at home and badly gashed my forearm, I went to A&E where the consultant Mr Peacock's first thoughts was for plastic surgery, but with care and patience Dr Bisset put my arm back together. I then attended Mr Peacock's trauma clinic twice a week for seven months where we found the staff, nurses Tracy, Nickie and Maria, the receptionist Debbie, Denise and Janet were professional and pleasant it made our visits more bearable. As I developed a secondary problem I was transferred to the dermatology, where we found the same pleasant and efficient treatment. Thanks to everyone who helped me to recovery

JOSE and STAN MARJORAM

I really feel a big thank you is in order for David Morrice and Joan Smith who organised a super night for us Greenacre oldies, on Saturday, September 26. Getting these functions off the ground can be time consuming and frustrating, but I'm sure they both must have felt it was all very worthwhile by the response they received. Those who didn't attend missed a special time of reminiscing and catching up with friends from our schooldays, plus lovely food and hospitality supplied by Kay, her partner and staff at the Ryanscourt Hotel. Once again thank you and when can we do it again?
