THE 1st South Walsham Guides and Brownies raised almost £400 for Marie Curie Cancer Care with an Easter egg hunt. The hunt was on Saturday at St Lawrence Centre, South Walsham, and about 80 tickets were sold to eager hunters who braved freezing temperatures, roaring winds and driving snow.

The hunt was on Saturday at St Lawrence Centre, South Walsham, and about 80 tickets were sold to eager hunters who braved freezing temperatures, roaring winds and driving snow.
It was originally planned to take place at South Walsham Community Woodland where Guides and Brownies planted a daffodil Field of Hope in November, to kick off their fundraising project for Marie Curie.
“The weather forecast was just so atrocious we decided to relocate to the centre,” explained Guide leader Chris Bond. “That way, people could come in from the cold and thaw out with a cuppa and a bun. We had lots of games and activities for children and adults to do and it would have been impossible to do them outside that day. We only wish we'd had a bet on a white Easter - we'd have made a fortune.”
