OFFICERS from the Gorleston Safer Neighbourhood Team are preparing to take to the beach this summer as they launch their new seafront beat base.

Tackling anti-social behaviour and ensuring the safety of visitors, in particular children, along the seafront area are priorities for the team throughout the summer months.

The beat base, formally the first-aid station, will be used to engage with the local community, deal with issues that arise within the vicinity of the seafront and to make sure that visitors and local residents have safe and enjoyable summer.

Sgt Lewis Craske said: “Having a base on the seafront will enable the safer neighbourhood team to engage with those members of the public that come to Gorleston seafront on holiday or for a day out at the beach. We will patrol the area throughout the summer with a particular focus on tackling anti-social behaviour and making sure that all our visitors stay safe.”

And the SNT will also be hold a street surgery on Gorleston High Street on Monday, August 11, where they will be focusing on issues of speeding and parking. Officers will be on hand to deal with queries between 10am and 4pm, giving locals the opportunity to tell the team about their concerns or ideas for their community.
