A STUDENT who head-butted a doorman while out on the town for a stag night was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

Dean Dyball, 19, had been drinking heavily on July 26 when the incident happened outside the Pier Tavern in Great Yarmouth just after midnight.

Dyball, of South Market Road, Yarmouth, was spotted by a police officer outside the entrance of the pub having a conversation with members of the door staff.

Appearing at Yarmouth Magistrates' Court on Mon-day, Dyball pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour.

Prosecuting, Gary Mayle said: “He walks a short distance then turns around and is found to be within inches of a doorman who he then head-butts.”

Mr Mayle explained the doorman, who suffered a nose bleed, did not want to take the matter any further with police but Dyball was arrested for threatening behaviour. He was taken to Yarmouth police station where in an interview said he had been drinking since before 6pm and had drunk seven bottles of Bud-weiser and six pints of beer.

Representing himself, Mr Dyball told magistrates he had been drinking heavily that night.

“All I can say is that I done it and I'm pleading guilty for it,” he told the bench.

The court heard that father-of-one Dyball was living off benefits while he was a full-time student at Yarmouth College on a bricklaying course. He was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay costs of £60.
