FOUR people have been charged with criminal damage offences following a police operation in Gorleston.
Officer in unmarked cars carried out night time patrols in areas of the town which have recently become hotspots for criminal damage.
During the operation over the last weekend officers witnessed people urinating in the street and pushing over motorcycles in Lowestoft Road. Further investigations identified linked criminal damage in Englands Lane where garden ornaments had been damaged.
Four people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing criminal damage and have since been charged. All have been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court at a later date, with strict curfews banning them from being out at night.
Insp Paul McCarthy, who heads the Gorleston Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Use of unmarked cars is just one of a number of tactics my team are using to reduce damage in the area and target those involved in anti-social behaviour.
“Coupled with the effective use of bail conditions such as curfews, I am confident offenders will be caught and dealt with robustly by the police”.
