A TERRIFIED woman was badly hurt by a vicious dog that tore into the street to attack her.

Hayley Baker suffered terrible bite marks to her thigh when she was savaged by a large dog in Gorleston.

Miss Baker was walking along Beccles Road last week when the powerful dog raced from a house and attempted to knock her over before sinking its teeth into her right leg.

The mum of one fears the animal could attack again, causing even more serious injuries to its next victim.

She said: “I heard barking and then the dog rushed up from behind, head butted my leg and tried to knock me over.

“It gripped hold of my leg and tore through my trousers, I was bleeding really badly, it could easily have torn a tendon.

“The top of my thigh is black and blue and it is lucky that I am quite fit, but I still can't go to the gym because I am in so much pain.

“I felt really traumatised and physically sick. It was a terrifying thing to happen, the dog should be put down. It could kill or seriously injure a child or elderly person.”

Senior carer Miss Baker, 31 suffered internal bleeding as a result of the bite, which caused massive bruising on her upper thigh.

She was given painkillers and antibiotics to treat the injury, but is still suffering both physically and mentally.

At the time Miss Baker was walking to the Phoenix Pool in Bradwell to pay swimming course fees for her seven-year-old son Rylee.

Despite the trauma of the dog attack she continued to the pool, where staff treated her injuries

After the attack Miss Baker and her dad Andrew returned to the house where the dog had raced from, but the owner has since denied that her pet was responsible for the attack.

“When my dad phoned the owner she even refused to accept it was her dog. I am very upset she has not even apologised to me. An animal must have been mistreated to behave like that,” she said.

“I have reported the incident to the police, but they don't seem to want to do anything about it.”

A police spokesman said: “We are currently in the middle of the investigation and the officer responsible will be taking more action shortly.”
