POLICE are investigating a suspected phone scam operating in Great Yarmouth.
Last Monday a woman aged in her mid 30's went into a hotel on Apsley Road in the town at about 3.30pm and asked if she could use the phone to call the AA.
The call lasted about five minutes and afterwards the woman left making no attempt to pay. A male employee later realised that she had not called the AA but a premium rate number which charged £1.50 per minute.
Police believe the woman involved is likely to be the beneficiary of the premium rate number.
Anyone who has suffered a similar experience or has any information should contact PC Samantha Cantillon at Yarmouth police station on 0845 4564567 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
