Following on from their hugely successful 10th anniversary gala weekend, organisers of the borough's biggest free day out Gorleston In Gear have announced the dates for this year's event which will take place over three days beginning Friday, July 25.

Following on from their hugely successful 10th anniversary gala weekend, organisers of the borough's biggest free day out Gorleston In Gear have announced the dates for this year's event which will take place over three days beginning Friday, July 25.

Back by popular demand is the1940's-style wartime dance and cabaret within an enlarged marquee complex. Entertainment will feature Twice as Nice and the Super Swing Big Band who recently performed for the Palliative Care East Charity fundraiser, which is GIG's chosen charity.

After last year's successful introduction of a Saturday daytime there will be another sports' based day of activities, displays, demonstrations and competitions, running from 9am to mid afternoon. Saturday afternoon and evening will again see live music on the clifftop, with local band Rivers headlining for the first time, having supported the event for six years. Supporting them will be a full line-up of local bands starting at 3.30pm and running through till 10pm with Rivers taking to the stage at 9pm. A full range of festival style food and a licensed bar will be available as will rides and amusements throughout the day.

Sunday's climax gala day featuring 12 themed arenas, lasting 12 hours and stretching the full mile of the Gorleston cliff top is billed as a fun packed day with 25-plus acts performing. The entertainment ranges from musical acts, song and dance, Punch and Judy shows, demonstrations, static displays and active display arenas, funfair, the young artists competition gallery, crafts, flora and hobbies, charity stalls and amusements including The Bomber - a 150ft high ride.

The Radio Broadland Black Thunder Helicopter will be returning to the skies of Gorleston and helping to raise money for the RadioBroadlandKidz appeal. The clifftop air display takes off at around 5pm. GIG in conjunction with Beach Radio are also planning a giant charity pass the parcel.

Live music will feature again this year in arena two alongside speciality food and drink. The finale extravaganza is songs by David Bowie performed by many local vocalists and musicians. The grand fireworks' finale is at 10pm from the north end of the cliff top.
