CLS Offshore’s managing director Scott McMillan and Daniel Beveridge, technical manager, recently presented to 50 engineers at The Welding Institute Offshore Oil and Gas Technical Group meeting in Aberdeen.
Meetings are organised by the Welding Institute to provide an open forum whereby common issues, present problems, solutions and feasibility discussions can take place.
The event also serves to provide an update on latest industry developments and as well as provide networking opportunities between operators and the supply chain with the likes of Maersk Oil, DONG, Subsea 7, Amec and BP in attendance.
The joint presentation focused on The Challenges of Subsea Fabrication, specifically highlighting an incident in which CLS Offshore overcame a problem by applying research and development to a welding process in order to adapt and complete a weld procedure qualification which had previously failed.
CLS has recently strengthened its welding team with the appointment of Ahmed Al-Mansour and Kyriakos Didilis, who both have a Master’s degree from Cranfield University in Welding Engineering, pictured.
