GOLDEN girl Jessica-Jane Applegate will help throw the switch in Great Yarmouth tomorrow night illuminating hundreds of twinkling lights.
The Paralympian will join the town mayor Colleen Walker in pressing the plunger, signalling the start of Christmas and a whole programme of events.
To celebrate the lighting up of the Christmas tree and the town’s festive illuminations in the market square, the switch-on at 7pm will be followed by a roof top firework display.
The event is the first of many festive offerings being staged in the town over the next week with the three-day Great Yarmouth Christmas Fayre opening on Friday followed by the Great Yarmouth Minster Tree and Crib festival and annual reindeer lantern parade next Wednesday.
The entertainment begins at 6.30pm with female vocalist Emily Creed taking to the stage to warm up the crowd with some upbeat Christmas tunes.
Then husband and wife singing duo Destiny will follow the roof top firework display with a live set of tunes until 8pm
Other attractions include donkey reindeer rides, and most town centre shops will remain open until 8.30pm.
Borough council car parks will be free from 4pm.
