A Great Yarmouth woman is now able to get out and about again after being presented with a mobility scooter.
Madge Wren had to go to James Paget Hospital earlier this year following a heart attack and was given the gift by the Yarmouth branch of national charity Remap, which offers services to those who find day-to-day tasks and mobility a struggle.
Her daughter Carole Whittaker praised the charity and said that a donation had been given by them to Remap as a way of saying thank you. She explained that the situation had come about after a worker at Remap helped Mrs Wren in her home following the heart attack.
“After being taken ill she needed more safety equipment put into the house,” Mrs Whittacker said. “The man who came round had a very positive attitude and was very sensitive, and we were overwhelmed with their kindness when the scooter was presented.
“It will help her retain her independence, and I would really encourage donations as the money is usually spent in areas that other services are not equipped to deal with.”
