Robots are taking over the classroom of a Gorleston high school after pupils teamed up with the University of East Anglia to improve their computing skills.
Robots are taking over the classroom of a Gorleston high school after pupils teamed up with the University of East Anglia to improve their computing skills. Year 9 pupils at Lynn Grove High School in Gorleston have been programming and racing mini-robots to see how their computer skills can be used in a fun way to create exciting projects.
Drs Stephen Laycock and Ben Miller from the UEA held the robot and computing workshops last Thursdayand Mondaywhich also involved showing pupils how to programme a two player racing game for Xbox consoles.
Owen Cooper, Lynn Grove ICT teacher who set up the robot and computing workshops, said: “The idea is to show the students that ICT is not just about using office applications such as Word, Excel or Access. It will hopefully inspire them to go on to taking ICT in further education so they can on to one of the many careers in the ICT sector.”
