Year 4 at Caister Junior took part in a China Day as part of their study about the people and culture of China. Activities included completing Tangrams which are an ancient Chinese puzzle, consisting of seven geometrical pieces that forms thousands of designs.; a quiz using information boards which allowed the children to find out more facts about China but in a fun way; experience of tea tasting, where the children got to taste several types of tea, such as ginger and jasmine, all washed down with a fortune cookie!
Lorraine Theobald from World Dance and Music Workshops for schools came into school to do some Chinese Dance with the children which also involved an impressive Chinese Dragon. She also helped them to connect with Chinese tradition through dance and face paints too. At the end of the day, the children showed off their dances to the parents, who also had the opportunity to look round the classes at the Chinese work they had been doing and also partake of some Chinese Day!
