AN annual charity fund-raising event by trainee chefs and front-of-house staff at Great Yarmouth College's training restaurant has raised almost 2,500 in the last ten years.

Every year for the past decade, students, under the guidance of patisserie lecturer David Rollings, have designed and created a gingerbread house to raffle in the restaurant for a local charity.

This winter, students raised 335 for cancer patients at the James Paget University Trust Hospital.

Mr Rollings, who started the project, is delighted the event has become an annual event in the students' calendar and the students have worked so hard to raise money for charity.

“Looking at the total is amazing and quite an achievement for our students.”

This year's house was designed by Tanya Catchpole who created it with fellow level two student Hannah Konieczny.
