A jealous man punched a man in the face fracturing his eye socket because he had been involved in a brief relationship with a former girlfriend, a court heard yesterday.
Daniel Folkes, 23, rode upon his bike and attacked the victim, Charles McGeachen, punching him twice in the face, Norwich Crown Court was told.
Chris Youell, prosecuting, said that Mr McGeachen suffered a fractured eye socket and was treated at hospital.
Folkes, of Nelson Road, Yarmouth, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Mr McGeachen in June last year.
Jailing him for eight months, Judge Peter Jacobs told him that he had shown a “great resentment” that the victim had a brief relationship with a former girlfriend.
“You punched him so hard as to fracture the bottom part of his eye socket.”
He added that Folkes had a bad record and warned: “Enough is enough. Sooner or later if you carry on using violence the courts will have to do something about it.”
Ian James, mitigating, said the attack was not premeditated but Folkes had just bumped into the victim.
He said that he deserved credit for pleading guilty.
