Local lads, all aged between nine and 14, took part in an exercise at Blundeston as part of the training programme for a new youth organisation, Urban Scouts.

During the exercise, members of the group were given lessons in concealment and camouflage, communications, orienteering and map reading. The session concluded with a laser tag game. Each month the Urban Scouts will learn different skills including survival, spy kids, communications, martial arts and laser tag taught by a team of experienced army and martial arts experts.

Urban Scouts is the brainchild of ex-army and karate black belt 3rd dan, Steven Webster in a bid to encourage more active and rewarding hobbies. Early feedback from parents has been encouraging, Mr Webster said, adding: “I've been told by parents that the boys are already helping regularly with chores at home, making their own beds, keeping their rooms tidy. Their attitudes and behaviour are changing for the better.”

Urban Scout groups meet weekly in Caister, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. For further information contact Steven Webster on 07969 339596.
