A 45-YEAR-old man who stole his friend's possessions and sold them on has been spared jail by a judge.
Daniel Horth, a resident of a Great Yarmouth hostel, stole his neighbour's newly-bought games system and fraudulently sold it on to a second hand shop.
Horth took a Sony Playstation and a memory card from his friend's room in the Faymer Hotel, in Paget Road, where they both lived and sold it on to Cash Converters for 13.
He was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to theft and fraud.
Judge Guy Ayers said: “From what you have said you now understand that what you did was not very nice.
“This was someone you knew, someone who trusted you, and you repaid their trust by stealing from them and selling it on. You knew they didn't have much to take and knew it would have a significant impact on them.
“It would be completely fair if I sent you to custody - you've had a few days now and you don't like it - but probation have found a way to help you keep you out of trouble.”
Horth was sentenced to a 12 month community order with a supervision requirement of six months.
