FUN is set to be inflated at Great Yarmouth's Marina Centre pool with the purchase of new, blow up apparatus for use during the weekends and holidays.
Manager Wayne Nixon said he hoped the new equipment would be coming in September, boosting the range of activities at the popular centre and proving the will for investment.
Fun sessions with an inflatable octopus had been very well received this summer he said and the free swimming being offered in a Government scheme to under 16s and over 60s had been “as successful as we had anticipated.”
However, the amount of unclaimed passes meant children who turned up to swim unaccompanied would not be allowed to do so unless they had their pass or their pink registration form. Too many, he said, were simply picking up a new form every time rather than their passes.
A system was in place he added to track how many locals and visitors were taking advantage of the scheme, launched this year under London 2012 and the drive to improve national fitness and interest in sport ahead of the Olympics.
A maximum of 180 people are allowed to swim at any one time, in line with health and safety rules that say each swimmer must have three square metres of space.
