A MEMBER of staff and a pupil from Stalham High School have been displaying symptoms of swine flu, it was revealed yesterday.
The school contacted parents and the health authorities about the cases and both patients are at home and recovering with treatment.
Meanwhile, there is also a suspected outbreak at Northgate School in Yarmouth and St Nicholas Priory School, also in Yarmouth.
Headteacher of Stalham High Melinda Derry said: “We have taken and followed all the advice.”
That advice allowed the week long festival, which began on Monday and will finish with a public 'market place' event on Friday, to continue.
Mrs Derry added: “It is a great event and is going very well, the children are enjoying it immensely.”
GPs in NHS Norfolk and NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney are now diagnosing swine flu based on clinical symptoms rather than awaiting laboratory test results.
Following diagnosis GPs can arrange for their patients to receive antiviral drugs if it is considered clinically appropriate. As a result it will no longer be necessary to confirm each new case of swine flu by laboratory testing.
