A FRITTON woman was fined 100 for failing to provide a specimen of breath after becoming aggressive with police.
Catherine Keyte, of New Road, had consumed twice the legal drink-drive limit of alcohol when officers stopped her in Gorleston and carried out a roadside breath test.
Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court heard on Friday that shortly before 1.20am on March 20, Keyte was seen driving along Pier Road and was stopped after police received a tip-off she may be over the legal limit.
Sara Borthwick, prosecut-ing, said Keyte, 32, had given a positive breath test at the roadside but then became unco-operative with officers.
Keyte was arrested and taken into custody where four attempts to take a second sample failed.
Representing herself, Keyte, who pleaded guilty, told magistrates she realised her behaviour towards officers had been “unacceptable”, adding she had written letters to the officers concerned apologising for her behaviour.
She said her aggressive behaviour had been fuelled by an argument with her boyfriend who lived in Gorleston.
“I haven't been working since February and didn't have the 25 for a taxi,” she said.
“It was a stupid thing to do, I was distressed and upset and acted in a very childish manner. I feel extremely bad about what happened and I will make sure it will never happen again.”
Magistrates fined Keyte 100 and ordered her to pay costs of 30 and a government surcharge of 15.
She was also disqualified from driving for 17 months.
