THE lucky winners of the Mercury's Legends Mascots competition will be getting a taste of the big match atmosphere on Wednesday night.

Kristian Sutton and Antonio Mangili will be proudly leading out Dale Gordon's Norwich City Legends team for game against a Great Yarmouth X1 at Wellesley Road.

Nine-year-old Kristian is particularly looking forward to meeting his namesake Chris Sutton at the game, who broke the then transfer record when he was sold by City to Blackburn Rovers for 5m in 1994.

An Arsenal fan, Kristian is a pupil at Hemsby Primary School and plays for Hemsby under-nines.

Six-year-old Antonio plays at the Dale Gordon Soccer Academy and attends Caister Infant School.

Mum Cheryl and dad Stuart and brother Luca

will be proudly watching Antonio step into the spotlight in front of what is set to be the biggest crowd at Wellesley Road for many years.

The two were drawn out of the hat from dozens of entries for the competition ahead of the much anticipated match.

Canaries' greats including Dion Dublin, Iwan Roberts, Robert Fleck, Chris Sutton and Jeremy Goss are among the all-star line-up. Also lining up for the Legends is Darren Huckerby, in what is being billed as his last ever game in England.

Match organiser and Legends captain Gordon was still waiting to hear whether City's newly appointed manager Bryan Gunn will be appearing between the sticks for the game.

Goalkeeping hero Gunn will be taking full-time charge of the first team alongside assistant Ian Crook for the match against Southampton on Tuesday.

Gordon said: “I have spoken to Gunny and if he doesn't play then hopefully he will still be there on the night.

“I will have a word with Ian to see if he can come along too - it all depends how busy their schedule is.”

Proceeds from the match will be donated to Great Yarmouth Football Club, where Gordon is director of football. Money will also be collected on the night on behalf of Hemsby inshore lifeboat.

The Legends team is managed by former City boss Dave Stringer, with ex-Bloaters manager Bill Punton taking charge of the Yarmuth Town X1.

Some stars from the Canaries 1959 FA Cup semi-final team are expected to attend the match, along with members of the current

squad, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their heroic exploits.

Tickets for the game, kick-off 7.30pm, cost 10 for adults and 5 for children and are available from Legends Lounge Bar, Sandown Road by phoning 01493 843373, Pub on the Prom, Marine Parade, David Mobbs Sports in King Street and Norwich City ticket offices at Carrow Road and Castle Mall shopping centre, Norwich.
