A Berkhamsted businessman who is attempting to run, swim, cycle and kayak his way around the British coastline made a stop in Great Yarmouth on Monday to rest his weary legs before setting off again towards Creeksea on Tuesday.

Richard 'Bonkers' Brash has set himself the challenge of making his way around the 4410km (2740 mile) coast in just 28 days to raise money for The Pepper Foundation, a Hertfordshire based charity that provides care and support for children with life-limiting or life threatening illnesses. Richard aims to raise £20,000.

Richard said: 'Many people have asked me why I'm taking on this challenge! I hope to inspire people to set themselves goals that many would consider impossible to reach – just think how much we could all achieve if we do away with self-limiting beliefs.'

On his arrival in Great Yarmouth, Richard took part in fundraising activities and giving out freebies to children. Representatives from Pepper were also in attendance and they challenged Richard to sing a couple of verses of St Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band to drum up some more funds.

But the journey wasn't without trouble. 'Monday saw my first mechanical issues of the challenge' said Richard. 'After two punctures and one exploding inner tube, I arrived onto Great Yarmouth's seafront around 7pm to a very warm welcome from family and Pepper representatives.

'The challenge has been exhausting but also such an incredible experience to see the magnificent British coastline in its entirety. Thank you to the people of Great Yarmouth for donating so generously to a great cause.'

Richard has now risen just over £11,500. You can follow his progress on www.facebook.com/BonkersBrash or donate on www.uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Brash
