ARMED police have surrounded a property on a busy shopping street in Great Yarmouth.
CROWDS of stunned shoppers and tourists looked on this morning as police officers carrying guns attended an incident in a flat above a Great Yarmouth town centre pub.
Packed King Street was thronging with shoppers eager to pick up summer bargains as six police cars and two ambulances rushed to the suspected domestic incident in a flat above the Uptown Bar at 11.15am.
One officer carrying a rifle was seen running from his car to the pub as hundreds of passers-by gathered to watch the events unfold.
Traffic ground to a halt in the narrow street, which was lined on both sides with police cars.
A pub customer had called the police after a woman suffered a cut to her chest and two cuts to her face during the incident.
Paramedics treated her at the scene, while police led away a man in handcuffs in front of the onlookers.
DC Dave Cushway, of Yarmouth police, said police were still trying to confirm exactly what happened, but the incident had not been as serious as first thought.
