Drivers are being warned they could face delays as 40-metre-long pipes are transported through the region.

Norfolk Police has issued a warning to motorists as an abnormal load will be moved to Lowestoft next week.

Police will escort the 2.8m wide pipes from Cleveland, near Middlesbrough, to Lowestoft next Monday, January 16.

A police escort will join the abnormal load as it travels to Lowestoft.

At noon, the abnormal load will cross the Cambridgeshire border and enter Norfolk, taking the A11 to the Thickthorn Interchange, before joining the A47 and heading towards Great Yarmouth.

After reaching Great Yarmouth, the police escort will then head south on the A47 to Lowestoft and head into the town centre via the A1117 and A1144.

It will then travel on Whapload Road and into Hamilton Road.

A police spokesman said: "Motorists are advised of potential delays on the road as they escort the following abnormal loads through the county on Monday, January 16 at noon."
