Friends of the man murdered in broad daylight in a Great Yarmouth street have paid tribute to him, describing him as having "a good character".

The 23-year-old was stabbed at around 12.40pm on Wednesday on St Peter's Road, close to the town's Golden Mile and its Hippodrome venue.

He staggered a few yards to nearby Wellington Road where he collapsed and was helped by members of the public until the emergency services arrived.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Flowers and cards have been laid at the spot where he fell, as well as several bottles of Magnum, a tonic wine from Jamaica.

Friends have also visited the scene to pay tribute.

They said the victim was known to all as 'Zee' and that he had been out shopping for his mother when he was attacked.

They said the rest of his family were in Portugal.

One of those paying tribute - who asked not to be named - said Zee had been a "good kid".

"He helped me and my girlfriend move house and refused to accept any money.

"He was such a good kid and did not deserve this.

"The last voicemail he left me he was trying to make me laugh - this was his fun and good character."

Another said: "Rest in peace handsome."

Other messages include "Fly high with the angels", "Gone far too soon", and "Rest in peace, forever in our hearts".
