Weekly summertime fireworks in Great Yarmouth and Hemsby have been confirmed for another year.

Throughout the summer holidays, traditional weekly fireworks displays are set to return to the area thanks to a cash injection of almost £500,000.

Visit Great Yarmouth is to invest more than £450,000 into marketing activities, projects, physical enhancements and the events programme to build on the array of activities available for holidaymakers and day trippers.

The summer evening fireworks in both Great Yarmouth and Hemsby are fully funded and will include street entertainment throughout the season from Out There Arts

The Wheels Festival on July 1 and 2 and the Festival of Bowls, which begins on August 27, will receive financial support.

Other events and attractions to have also attracted funding include Great Yarmouth Arts Festival, The Out There Festival, Caister Carnival Fun Day, Gorleston Clifftop Gala Fireworks, Gorleston Bandstand Concerts, The ADP Riot Tour, Hopton Party in the Park, Comic Con Mini, the Gorleston Christmas Light Switch-on and the Coastal Path Celebrations.

Lyndon Bevan, chair of Visit Great Yarmouth, said: "Our investment for 2023 will give funding support to many projects and events, which will bolster the rich selection of activities already available for all generations, but also make a huge amount of difference to the fantastic organisations we work with."

Asa Morrison, chief executive of Visit Great Yarmouth, said: "We are extremely fortunate that we have such amazing businesses who work together to provide an unforgettable experience for our holidaymakers and day trippers.

"But we are also buoyed by how full our events calendar is year on year, organised in many cases by volunteers, who are passionate about our area."

The funding is part of the overall financial investment from The Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area (GYTABIA), which trades as Visit Great Yarmouth.
