A police sting targeting law-breaking drivers in Great Yarmouth has led to four people being arrested and more than 35 offences reported.
The day of action was staged on the Acle Straight on Friday, March 3 between 10am to 6pm.
The joint operation targeted those using fake documents and resulted in seven vehicles being seized and four were handed prohibition notices preventing them from being driven on the road.
More than 50 vehicles were stopped during the day with over 35 Traffic Offence Reports issued.
Two disqualified drivers were found to be behind the wheel illegally and four people were arrested.
Other offences recorded by officers include six mobile phone users, nine people not wearing seatbelts, four people driving with no licence and two people with no insurance.
PC Joshua Preston who led the operation said it had gone some way towards combating the issue of motorists driving on Norfolk’s roads without the required documentation, improving road safety, and changing driver behaviours.
“People who set out in vehicles without the proper documentation or in vehicles which are not fit to be driven put themselves and other motorists at risk.
“Some of these offenders may never have passed a driving test or may be banned from driving because their behaviour was so dangerous.
“The day of action in Great Yarmouth not only had the positive effect of removing hazards from the roads but also sends the message out that we will crack down on those whose actions put the majority of safe drivers at risk.”
