A new EV charging hub with space for 10 vehicles is being built at a retail park in Great Yarmouth.

Work is underway for a 10-bay car charging site at Gapton Hall Retail Park.

The new hub, which is expected to be complete by mid-summer, will allow drivers to do a spot of shopping while their cars are on charge.

SSE Energy Solutions is in charge of the build, and the Gapton Hall hub will represent the first round of charging stations installed on sites managed by M7 Real Estate (M7) as part of a two-year programme.

M7 asset manager Josh Tyler said the new EV charge hub is critical for improving sustainability and experience for customers.

The new site will have charging capabilities of up to 150kw, which will allow drivers to resume their journey within 20 to 40 minutes after plugging in.

Great Yarmouth is one of six sites to be constructed in the initial phase of the project roll-out, with hubs also being installed on locations in Ipswich, Poole, Hayes, Colchester, and Chelmsford.
