"The secret to our success in the classroom is because we do it the Filby way."

That is the message from a primary school in a village near Great Yarmouth after it was rated as good by Ofsted.

Filby Primary School was inspected by Ofsted at the end of March and rated as good in all areas looked at.

Among the positive comments in the glowing report was one which mentioned the special ethos at the school.

The report said: "Pupils talk about how much they enjoy their learning.

"They are also proud to follow the ‘Filby Way’, which are the values and behaviours staff expect them to show."

It also said: "Pupils at Filby Primary School appreciate being part of a small and close-knit community.

"They make firm friendships across the school. Pupils like how all the adults know who they are."

In regard to an updated curriculum, the report added: "Leaders have prioritised reading and mathematics.

"Teachers have good subject knowledge in these subjects. They successfully adapt activities to meet pupils’ needs and regularly check their understanding.

"As a result, pupils, including in the early years, achieve well."

Headteacher Matt Wigg said: “We are all delighted with the outcome of the inspection and the fact that it highlights so many of the areas that Filby Primary School is proud of.

“I am really pleased that it shares the hard work of the whole school community and the Evolution Academy Trust, of which we are a member.

“I would like to thank staff, pupils and families alike for all contributing to this good grade.”

The school was told it could make further improvements concerning foundation subjects as some teachers are not yet delivering curriculum content as precisely as intended and some pupils are not having misconceptions addressed securely or quickly enough.
